Pumpkin Centerpiece Instructions
Materials and equipment needed:
1. Pumpkin
2. Oasis block (the big green foamy thing to stick the flowers into) pre-soaked
in warm water
3. Selection of hardy flowers/berries and greenery clipped down
4. Sharp knife for snips
5. Newspaper to put underneath because you will be messy
Easy step by step method:
1. Cut hole and clean out pumpkin
2. Carve your wet oasis block to size, leaving 1 ½ inches to stick
up from the top. Round off its corners.
3. Do a soft placement of your greens at edges/touches of it in the center
4. Poke in your flowers and berries in an attractive display, keep it interesting
and textured.
Tips:
- Use the freshest flowers
- Make sure your
oasis is completely and thoroughly soaked
- Clustering groups
of “same” flowers is most effective
- Draping greenery
can be very elegant
- Use your leftover
lid in your design using wiring or florists’ picks or even lay it
beside your finished design.
- Water your design
daily
- Place a plate
under your finished design to protect your linens.
- Do several different
pumpkins and cluster them as a grouping.
- If pumpkin is
wobbly, gently slice bottom to level it off
